Sassy

I hope everyone that is a mother had a Terrific Mother's Day. I know I did. We went to the Pacific Science Center over in Seattle. We went again yesterday after dropping Sassy off at the eye specialist. We had a great time. Audrey even got to go see her first IMAX movie.

About Sassy... She did have glaucoma in her left eye and had lost complete sight in it. After weighing the odds and costs of keeping the eye, we decided to have it surgically removed. She is in the process right now and we will pick her up this afternoon/ early evening. We think it is the best option for her so she can be more comfortable. We will continue to monitor the right eye to make sure we can try and prevent glaucoma in that eye. Eventually she will get it in that eye but it is possible to prevent it for a few years anyhow. Keep her in your prayers.

Anyhow I think we may leave early today and do something in Seattle until we have to go and pick her up. Have a wonderful day.

Oh Sarah, I am so sorry to hear that. Unfortunately Bassets are known for eye problems, but the good news is that they do seem to do ok even after they have lost their sight. I will definitely keep her in my prayers!

Oh, Sassy baby. I'm so sorry but she will be OK. Dogs adjust quickly to any phyiscal limitations. You can also get her a jeweled eye patch for those all important social occasions. Did you know that smoking a joint, the dog, not you, is good for glacoma? However, if Sassy asks you to light her dubby for her, run. Seriously, hang on. All of you have enough love to make her life happy and she will be able to give back 10 fold to you. Lots of love, Auntie A2
